Dad's entry into his log: Sept.27, 1943 No. 8 Wewak target today--bombed and strafed airstrips and planes on the ground. Intercepted by 20 Zeroes. Shot down 9 and 3 probable. A/A fire  heavy and accurate. 2 -B25's-shot down-our engineer was on one.

Oct. 27, 1943--No. 9. Reconnaisance mission to Rabaul to day. We were by ourselves. One lone B-25-Was it lonesome. Had we been jumped we'd have been helpless. Oct. 28, 1943-No. 10-No.11, Two Reccos to Rabaul today-Ran into 13 enemy fighters but managed to elude them.
